The moments when I truly feel happy are those early mornings on the beach. Even if I wake up feeling a bit off, I align and rebalance when I put my feet in the sand and hear the ocean. Watching the surfers navigate their world with ease makes my heaviness disappear. It feels magical, and I wonder what energetically happens in those moments. People who have been to Bali know that there are often many dogs and puppies around. Connecting with them helps me transcend my ‘human-ish’ self and just be.
A ghost you will never catch
While staring at the waves, I sincerely wonder about the impact of cities, the concrete jungle, the 9-to-5 grind, and the constant rush to do as much as possible in one day. Have you ever thought about how people who live in the jungle feel, what issues they deal with compared to those living fast-paced lives, believing we need to work hard to be successful, and that the goal of life is earning money? I would love to have a conversation with two people, one raised in nature and one from lets say New York, and see how they can inspire each other. We from the Western world often believe that if we have money, we will be happy. We buy a new look, thinking if we appear young and beautiful, we will be happier and more accepted. We go out for expensive dinners, purchase the latest gadgets, and hope people see us as successful. This deep programming makes us rate ourselves based on these external factors, but I feel that if you live this kind of life, it passes you by, and you are chasing a ghost you will never catch.
Sure, we can absolutely continue choosing those kind of things. However, I believe it’s crucial to introspect and understand why we make certain choices in life and whether they truly resonate with our inner self and soul. To be aware and not just following the herd.
Be in the mud and rise like a phoenix
To me, life is a journey you step into, full of experiences — some feel good and some don’t. But they are all there by design so you can unlearn, relearn, and become freer in being yourself, as opposed to what society dictates. I know it is not easy to be the awkward one out, to do things your unique way, and to face the deep-rooted fear of being cast out of the tribe, which would have led to death in earlier times. We might still carry that fear from our ancestors, who knows. But I truly believe that we are here to become ourselves, to travel the road that fits us, the one that feels right, and to accept all that it brings — the good and the bad (which is still good even if it doesn’t feel nice). It is in these moments of struggle that you look in the mirror and wonder why you are in this situation and what you need to learn from it. Obviously, you are ready to face the challenge; otherwise, it would not happen to you. So, doubting your ability to handle it is out of the question. In those moments of challenge, I always try to sit with it, be in it, and let my emotions flow freely so they can move through and out of my system. I remind myself that this will pass, and looking back, I will probably understand why it happened and what it brought me. These are the beautiful opportunities where you get to be in the mud and rise like a phoenix, even though you don’t want to hear it because it simply sucks being in it! But you will survive, you will be wiser, and you will have another story to tell. One of the most beautiful perks about growing older is becoming a storyteller and inspirer for people who need that little push to move forward, or an insight that ‘unstucks’ them, or simply an uplift or energy shift. It is something I love doing for humanity. Moreover, I think it is a natural skill and gift we all have and love to share — helping others through listening and kindness by seeing them for who they are, beautiful souls on a human journey.
Piece of unasked advice
Get to know who you are, know your power and talent, and accept what happens in your life — it is all there by design. Keep moving, keep flowing and visualize and feel everything you can be, do, and have. Keep being you.
